Congratulations on your new book, Evelyn!!! So exciting. :)
As for borrowing lines, I'm lucky that -- as well as writing solo -- my husband and I co-write fantasy stories together. He also writes solo stories. And he's my editor, too! So we love coming up with and giving each other lines that work better for the other person.
Does your husband like reading his lines in your books?
Petra, that is so cool that you two co-write together! And that he edits your work, wow!! I wouldn't be able to do that with Tom; I take things way too personally when it's someone I know well, haha (I don't have this problem with feedback from my editors, though).
Tom does like reading his lines in my books, but sometimes they surprise him how they come out... Like in The Crown's Fate, I gave one of his lines to the jolly female baker, Ludmila.
Congratulations πππΎπ Evelyn on your new book. I love your unboxing! Kudos! I wish you many more book unboxing celebrations. I'm going to my local B&N to pick up my copy of the book on Tuesday! So excited! I love your wedding picture, it's so so beautiful! You look beautiful and Tom looks so happy! Thanks for sharing! Happy Soon to be Book Release Day!
Getting the Audible version!! And thereβs actually a book called βSteal like an artist!β Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative (Austin Kleon)https://a.co/d/fYkY3Bo
Yes, I LOVE that book!! A painter friend of mine gifted it to me years ago. I don't know where my copy is now... But thank you for reminding me that it is perfectly okay to steal words from your husband's mouth. π
As you know, I mainly write songs. When you're a performing songwriter people often assume that all of your songs come from your life. But sometimes, it's just a good idea for a song. In fact, I would say the songs that are about my life are in the minority. That doesn't mean that some small spark of something might be in there, but then imagination takes over.
oh my gosh, I have made that mistake of assuming that songs come mostly from the writer's life... And I think Taylor Swift has not helped the younger generations of musicians in that way, lol.
I love you insights into the songwriting process, Eddie! Other forms of writing and art are always interesting to me. I used to love watching So You Think You Can Dance because it was a peek at a different form of artistic expression and how hard they all worked, just like we do.
Thank you, Caro!! You know what is super interesting to me is that the audiobook narrator reads it differently than I did. Only a small difference, but to the author, it's like WHOA!
It didn't really occur to me that a reading difference would happen, but also, why not?? haha. I love that audiobook narration is acting and therefore a different artistic interpretation of the words I wrote.
Pre-order DONE via Audible! The narration sounds great, but you have a wonderful voice too -- Looking forward to listening. Enjoy every minute of launch day, Evelyn!
I understood everything you said, and I love your enthusiasm! You set such a positive example for how we should all celebrate our accomplishments. I also love listening to you read - you have a melodious voice, really. Thank you for sharing your joy with us, and I'm on my way to preorder the book now! π₯°π
Thank you for allll of that, Amy! For preordering, for saying such lovely things about my voice (even though I get high-pitched when I'm excited), and for the celebration part... Tom taught me to celebrate every little milestone and I'm so glad he leads with that philosophy. Thanks for being here on this journey with me!
Eeep! thank you, Jill! I wasn't sure if it was too egotistical to say that my own first line was great, but I figured it was okay anyway because they were really Tom's words. π
I cannot wait to read it!! Love the first line!
thank you so much, Ingrid!!
Congratulations, Evelyn! So happy for you π
thank you, Chris, I appreciate it!

Ooo, I imagine it would be fun and surprising to see who ends up saying the line. π
And yes, I love writing with Adam. We have so much fun and often crack each other up. (We also get into serious arguments about commas. π)
haha who is more pro-comma?
Him, by a slight bit. But itβs more about when and why theyβre used versus how many. π
Now I have no guilt of adopting people's personality for a day or two to write a character.

Love this!! Being inspired by the world around us and weaving it into our stories is gold. Congrats Evelyn! Iβm looking forward to reading the book. Just pre-ordered it π€©
Thank you so much, Vivian! I'm glad you enjoyed the behind the scenes peek, and thank youuuuu for preordering!!

What a great opening line!

Great line! I love eavesdropping on peopleβs conversations at coffee shops!
thanks, Barb!
If only laypeople knew how dangerous it was to chat openly at coffee shops... you never know when a writer is lurking nearby, haha.
I LOVED this line!

awww thank you, Stacy!! I always feel self-conscious when I read these article voiceovers, so I appreciate you saying that!
And thank you for preordering on Audible. I'm really excited to listen to the narrators read the whole book, too!
I listened to the audio and you have a fantastic voice for reading! Do you read your own audiobooks too?
oh my goodness, you are so kind, Holly! No, I don't read my own audiobooks. I don't think I could do all the different character voices well enough!

Love this. Hearing a great line is a little gold nugget.
