Today is a busy day for me (I’ll explain in a sec), so this is just a quick “Hello!” newsletter. Hiii, lovelies!
Why am I busy? Because of really fun opportunities! As many of you know, my husband Tom and I are seize-the-cool-moments-in-life type of people, which is why I’m currently in the middle of a campground in Texas, eagerly awaiting the solar eclipse. (I usually live in the San Francisco Bay Area).
Here I am, skeptically testing out the eclipse glasses. Do these things work?
And then I put them on and could’t see anything… so yeah. I think they’re good!
Now, I am not an outdoor kind of girl—not even a mildly-away-from-the-suburbs kind of girl—but my family likes science-y things, and total solar eclipses don’t happen every day (the next one that’ll be visible from the United States will be in August of 2044), so here we are! I’m excited!
Shortly after the total solar eclipse, I will rush to the Dallas-Fort Worth airport for my long flight to Frankfurt, and then onto Paris. My French publisher is bringing me to France for a French book tour!
There will be a signing at the Gibert bookshop in Lyon, croissants, le Festival du Livre de Paris (the Paris Book Festival), and more croissants.
Actually, probably pain aux raisins, because I’m obsessed with those.
If you’re going to be in Paris this weekend, here is my schedule. I’ll write you all a fun newsletter about my book tour soon!
French Daydreams
I have also been daydreaming about buying a Parisian apartment. Yes, I realize I don’t speak French (yet!), but that won’t stop me from imagining a chic French life for myself.
I sent this photo of an available apartment to Tom.
Look at those gorgeous floors and the panels on the walls!
And the crown moulding!
Tom’s reaction: “That looks horrifying! It looks like I should be wearing a wig and tights.”
Le sigh. Tom does not share the same romantic aesthetic dreams as I do.
So… I guess we won’t be buying an apartment in Paris.
(Maybe I’ll buy a French bakery instead… Shh. Don’t tell Tom.)
