Liked hearing from someone who is both trad published and self-published, it's an interesting viewpoint. And the social media stuff is fascinating, too. And loved hearing about co-authoring! Co-authoring is so fun. 😀 Would you ever self-publish a book, Evelyn? Or are you dedicated to traditional publishing all the way?
Oh gosh, I feel like my opinions for my career (whether traditional pub or self-pub) is a whole post or entire video call on its own haha! Maybe I'll film that sometime. The short answer is that for me personally, I like traditional publishing because I'm too lazy to do all the other work (like hiring a cover artist, doing epub formatting, marketing/publicity, etc.) But I really admire the writers who manage to wear all those hats!!
That makes so much sense. (And I'd totally watch that video!) There's a lot of juggling in indie publishing. And I'm lucky that I'm doing this all with my co-writer and husband. But sometimes I question my own sanity. 😂 I've toyed with the idea of shopping a novel around, just to see what that would feel like. So maybe...
I have been thinking about your question on self-publishing vs traditional publishing… Maybe I’ll invite a couple of my author friends who have published in different ways to do a discussion on my podcast about the pros and cons of each approach!
Yes! That would be awesome! 😀 And if the indie and self-published authors want to throw in a bit of discussion about marketing that would be super interesting and helpful, too. 😀
So lovely, I feel like I was secretly listening in on a conversation between friends 😁
haha YES! That’s an accurate summary, Sophie!
