Happy almost-December, lovelies! I’m still trembling from the last issue of my newsletter with the Damsel movie trailer, are you?
Anyway, if you celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you all ate a lot of pie. I sure did! It’s like a warmup to holiday cookie season.
2024 Book Reveal!!! - ONE YEAR AGO IN SPAIN
I can finally tell you about my next novel!! There’s no cover art yet, but it’s another swoony, beautiful love story, and it’s set in Madrid.
Here is the official book description:
ONE YEAR AGO IN SPAIN
Claire Walker has always had her life in perfect order, including her high-powered job at one of Manhattan's top corporate law firms. Yet the one thing she cannot seem to find is that perfect love to complete it. Until, at the end of a spectacularly bad date, fate drops Matías de León into her lap. Matías is a Spanish artist who has come to New York from Madrid to pursue his gallery career. He is also everything that Claire is not: free-spirited and creative, chaos to her order. She falls for him, hard—and he for her.
A year later, Matías has planned a big trip to Spain for them, and she knows he is about to propose. But doubts creep in; how can they possibly work long-term when they're so different? Meanwhile, Claire has just become the lead lawyer on a billion-dollar corporate merger—a job that should finally earn her a coveted partnership at her firm—so she encourages Matías to take the trip on his own, see his friends and family. They will visit Spain together at another time, when maybe her clarity about their relationship will be stronger.
But only days into the trip, a terrible accident leaves Matías in a Madrid hospital and gravely wounded. And when Claire drops everything to race to his side, she finds herself the only one who can see and talk to Matías's soul, detached from his comatose body. But that soul has no memories of his year in New York, of her, or of their relationship. Claire soon realizes that, in order to lure Matías back to his body, she will have to convince him to fall in love with her all over again. But can lightning strike twice? Can the same magic that once brought them together do so again?
AHHHHHHHH!!!! I had such an amazing time writing this book and falling in love with Claire & Matías… I cannot wait for you to meet them!!

I was thrilled to be on Happy to Meet Cute, a podcast hosted by two romance authors, where they interview other romance writers about their books! Thanks for having me on your show, Falon Ballard and Courtney Kae!
Behind the Scenes of Author Life
What I did in November:
I finished the “zero draft” of (codename) Kindness!
A zero draft is a messy thing that isn’t quite coherent enough to call a first draft, haha. It’s me, writing out a new idea and getting to know the characters. Even though I always write an outline first, it’s not until I have the zero draft done that I truly understand who these people are and what their story is (probably) going to be.
I let the zero draft sit for a couple weeks (meanwhile, I ate alllll that pie). Soon, I’ll open up my zero draft to begin truly fleshing out the book and getting it into shape as a first draft. After that, I’ll send it to my editor!

Holiday Gift Time
Looking for the perfect gift for your bookish family member or friend? Might I suggest an Evelyn Skye novel? I’ve got you covered, from adults to teens to children (brief summaries of all my books below!)
Women’s Fiction/Romance: The Hundred Loves of Juliet
A writer who craves a real-life happily ever after and a gruff fisherman who doesn’t believe in them find out they’re part of the greatest love story of all time, in a tale perfect for fans of Emily Henry and Ashley Poston.
Adult/Crossover YA Fantasy: Damsel
A woman accepts an arranged marriage to a prince in a fairy tale-like kingdom, only to discover she’s destined to be sacrificed to a dragon. Also soon to be a Netflix film starring Millie Bobby Brown, Robin Wright, and Angela Bassett.
YA Historical Fantasy: The Crown's Game & The Crown's Fate (two book series)
Two sorcerers battle it out in a magical competition--the winner becomes the tsar's Imperial Enchanter, and the loser must die. But when Vika (whose magic is powered by nature) meets Nikolai (whose mechanical magic can build bridges out of thin air), the enemies dangerously begin to fall in love. Set in 1825 in Imperial Russia with lush, beautiful magic.
YA Fantasy: Circle of Shadows and Cloak of Night (two-book series)
Love, spies, and adventure abound in this fantasy series about apprentice warriors who are marked by the gods to be trained in magic and the fighting arts to protect the kingdom of Kichona.
YA Contemporary Rom Com: Three Kisses, One Midnight
Three best friends come across a recipe for a love potion that may or may not work, and miscommunication and shenanigans ensue. This sweet book feels like pumpkin spice and autumn magic, and it's as much about the close-knit friendship among three very different teens as it is about them finding love.
Children: Princess Private Eye
Think The Princess Diaries meets Nancy Drew, and you’ve got Genevieve Sun, a spunky New York orphan who discovers she’s actually the long-lost princess of a faraway kingdom. But when she arrives in Raldonia, a suspicious “curse” begins causing mayhem in the kingdom, and it’s up to Gen—and her very awesome hacking skills—to solve the mystery and save her newfound home.
I hope to see you at the Books & Cookies Party!!!! Don’t forget to RSVP (above)!!
xoxo,
