💰 Update on the Scholarship Funds Our Community Has Raised

You are all AMAZING! It’s been less than 2 months since I announced that 100% of paid subscriptions will go toward Scholarships for Aspiring Writers, and…

You have already raised $4,555.75 in paid subscriptions and private donations!!

That means we have enough for extra scholarships:

• The extra money we’re raising will roll over to more scholarships in 2025!

🎉 $500 CREATIVE. INSPIRED. HAPPY Substack Emerging Talent Award

I continue to try to find new ways to support creativity, and today I’m pleased to announce a new award for anyone in our community who is also writing on Substack.

Two (2) Substack writers will win $500 each to support their writing—as extra income, for childcare, to pay bills, go to a writing conference… whatever helps you!

»Note: these awards do NOT use our scholarship fund. Your paid subscriptions are earmarked for the educational scholarships (mentioned above).

I am personally offering these Substack awards—just wanted to confirm you know where your money is going.

To apply:

1. Make sure you’re a member of CREATIVE. INSPIRED. HAPPY, since this is an award for our community. Please join us (free or paid)—it’s warm and friendly here!

2. In the Comments of this post, describe what writing means to you in 3 sentences (or less) + include a link to your Substack so people can check it out.

3. Restack this post on Substack Notes to share this opportunity with others. This is required, because our community is fueled by kindness, so we want to buoy others, too!

How winners are chosen:

• One (1) winner will be personally selected by me based on their Comment and the writing on their linked Substack. This is an emerging talent award, so I’m looking for promising writing.

• One (1) winner will be selected by community votes (whoever has the most Likes on their Comment below as of August 22, 2024 at 5pm PDT.)

  • We are good people here, so any entries suspected of spamming, using bots, or unfair voting methods will be automatically disqualified.

Winners will be announced in my August 23, 2024 newsletter.
