OMG. I just discovered you and starting to binge read your work on here. Absolutely loved this piece. Missed the deadline for a postcard, :( but what a novel idea! C'est la vie I suppose. Wishing you a spectacular book tour and wonderful time in Paris
hi Sue! I just woke up in Paris (a luxurious morning of sleeping in, since my signings don't start today until the afternoon), and what a lovely comment from you to wake up to! Never fear, I'll offer up postcards again in the future when I travel somewhere fun. Welcome to our little community!
Such a great idea. I absolutely love it. Luxurious mornings of sleep are the best and in Paris to top it off, how fabulous. Hope you had an awesome book signing. I look forward to reading more of your work!
Hi, Ilona! I'm so happy you're here and thank you so much for ordering my book! Dreams are the best, aren't they? I don't even need them to come true, because the dreaming part is already so fun!
But wow, a Paris tour sounds amazing!!! And that apartment is stunning! I've always wanted to buy a chateau and renovate it (I've spent years and years looking up chateaus for sale and now I watch YouTube channels of others doing the very thing I dreamed of), but it's only in recent years that my husband has warmed to the idea. No, that doesn't mean we're buying a chateau, but my husband doesn't think it's quite the terrible idea he used to think it was ... so I'll take that as progress :D
bon journee, evelyn!!!! hope you have the DREAmIEsT time en paris!!!!
nathan & i got to go there on art/writing reasons/grant last year-- 3 weeks barely scratched the surface! ack! what a city!!!!!!
(i did the postcard thing for my patreons while i was there, too!! thank you for your generosity!! so much FUN!!)
(the hubs and i are also dreaming of a parisian apt/studio someday.... i mean, crazier things have happened, right?! p.s. have you watched THE AGENCY on netflix? it's a french family of realtors in paris, and it's so much fun!) :D
Thank you, Hallie! I have not heard of that show, must check it out! I’m jealous you and Nathan got to stay in Paris for 3 whole weeks! Crossing my fingers for you to one day get your dream studio there. 💗
Hi, Evelyn! I'm watching the solar eclipse today with my husband too. We've got our glasses ready. I put them on and told my husband: "But I can't see anything!" And he kind of did a little sigh and was he like exactly! Thank you for sharing your dream of owning a Paris apartment. It sounds lovely and that apartment was beautiful. Tom's reaction made me laugh. Maybe he just needs more time and some gentle nudging. You've inspired me to continue to think about my own dreams. I hope you have a safe flight and I'm looking forward to hearing about your France adventures.
You are a woman after my own heart! After my breakup with a boyfriend I had been living with for 3 years, my mother took me to Paris and Nice for 3 weeks. Long story short, I met some great friends, came back to the US, sublet my new apartment, and moved to Paris for a year. That was 1999 - 2000 (yes, I was in Paris for the new millennium!) and was in my early 30s. Perhaps I will write that story one day, but for now I'm working on my memoir about surviving the year after my husband died from cancer in 2021. It's a wild tale of dissociation, sex, heartbreak, and ultimately reconnection with my husband's spirit by allowing myself to grieve his loss. I have 10 full chapters posted on my Substack, but since I just started in mid February, I don't have paid subscription options, yet. Enjoy your tour Evelyn, and I'm on your team regarding the apartment! XO 🥰
Thank you, Amy! I'll be thinking of you while in Paris. And I'm so glad to hear that you are finding your way with Substack and writing about your experiences. Sending you so much love.
I'm with you, that apartment is amazing!! 😍
THANK YOU! I'll tell Tom you agree with me lol.
I'm sure that will be the tipping point! 😆
Same.
Le sigh 😂🤣 honestly though Tom, why are you ruining our French life?
hahaha

Dreams are so goood! I'm glad I found a fellow dreamer. I am going to order your book now!

I enjoyed your article, and your book sounds so good. I am ordering it now!
Thank you so much, Marina! I really appreciate you!
Love this! Come to my Paris apartment any time 🦋
Have a fabulous book (and food!) tour! And yes yes yes to that apartment!
I hope the eclipse was fun!

Haha same! I used to torment Tom with links to castles for sale. I feel like sending him this apartment was a massive upgrade in terms of modernity.
Hahaa! Yes, I'm sure the apartment has all the modern conveniences and it's in Paris! What's not to love??

I love that apartment and you being in Texas for the eclipse!
Maybe we should just pool the resources of a bunch of writers and buy the apartment for our writing collective. 😂
Yes 🙌 yes 🙌 yes 🙌

I’m so glad you’re going to keep dreaming! Honestly? Sometimes the fun is in the dreaming itself. 💗 (And Tom makes me laugh, too!)
I witnessed a total solar eclipse when I was a child. It's a fantastic experience, can't wait to read your impressions.
I am VERY excited!

I'm with you on the pastries!!! I'm not much of a city dweller, but I'd take a couple of months lease in that apt!
I will eat a pastry for you, Stephanie!
I need to see that apartment's bathroom. Have fun eclipsing (and book touring)!
The bathroom will either be gorgeous or a nightmare. Or possibly both--a gorgeous plumbing nightmare.
Thank you, Michael!
